NOMAN Ibiza – Barcelona race: Departure and an Announcement
30 Jul 2017
Thought the ocean rowing was over? We’re only half done!
This afternoon 4 crews embarked on the return route, rowing in reverse from Ibiza to the mainland.
Due to weather concerns, there has however been a change to the finishing point. This was originally intended to be from Santa Eularia des Riu on Ibiza, to Port Vell in Barcelona. The finish point is now at Sant Carles de la Rapita, SW down the coast from Barcelona. The crews are due to arrive on Tuesday afternoon/evening on present form however we will update on here and social media for the latest updates.
At just after 3.15pm CET the flag dropped on the start line and our crews have begun the row around the SE corner of Ibiza and northwards towards the mainland. Already dolphins have been spotted by one of the crews, hopefully on this first evening conditions will remain favourable and they will be able to get into a settled rhythm of things.
You can follow the GPS tracker live here. Please note, Team Tradition’s tracker is currently malfunctioning. The crew are all safe, and indeed are actually in the lead by 0.2 nautical miles over Team BA! Whether they maintain that we will be sure to let you know!
We will also be adding in photos and content as soon as we receive them.
